Out of Season
Anderton Marina is located by the Trent and Mersey Canal at Anderton village on the outskirts of Northwich and because of its position it provides a great variety of cruising to the enthusiast or beginner. Cast off in one direction and head towards Shropshire and on to Wales or take the opposite way towards the Pennines.
In the summer, at the height of the tourist season, the marina is a hive of activity with people spending the warmer months enjoying their leisure time whether it is the serious boater or families taking the chance to hire a narrow boat for their summer getaway.
Once the summer hustle and bustle has died away the marina takes on a slower pace where only the hardiest devotees dare to spend the winter months aboard their boats. But still life goes on. Maintenance on the marina’s hire boat fleet brings life.
This exhibition shows the Marina, like any other marina up and down the canal network, in the off season, showing that although the crowds are gone the marina still provides a home and workplace for many people keeping a thriving industry and way of life thriving during the cold winter months.
